Cam atat si despre Kodak – s-a dus. 

Dar ce ne facem cu formatele digitale proprietare Kodak? Fotografii, albume etc.? Probabil le aruncam, ca sunt poze vechi, asa-i?

La fel poa’ sa pateasca si Microsoft, si Adobe, si Apple si Google. Daca ne lasam in grija lor, memoria noastra va disparea odata cu ei…

AS 2011-01-12 Arhivele Nationale nu pot muri?

Tocmai a mai disparut una, in noua ordine globala: avem Arhiva si Biblioteca Nationala a Olandei.

In Bosnia, politicieni ca la noi.

Desi s-a mai scris, iarasi discutii despre arhive si istorie: chiar dau arhivele adevarul istoric? Pe linia asta – care mie mi se pare cat se poate de reala -, arhivistii care se bazeaza doar peistorie vor fi viitoarele victime ale evolutiei.

In fine, si o veste buna: cu noile discuri, arhivele electronice vor rezista mult timp dupa ce arhivele ca institutii nu vor mai exista 🙂

Update: Hello, again!

Happily, I did it! I used to work with old OCR, Recognita. And, as I remembered, in order to save both the OCR-ed text and the image, I saved in its native format, *.rcd.  The software is still somewhere in the holes of the Internet, and I managed to install it, and to read my files. So,  as soon as I can, the migration process will start!

Hello, World!!

Here I come in the universe of e-archiving stupid victims!

Some files I have, dating back to 2003, are not readable anymore! I am talking about *.rcd and *. mtp files. The funny part is that I do not know what program I used to create them and the ever actual Internet do not offer me any information.  I suspect to be a sort of OCR sofware, but who knows…

So, important information–well preserved–but not usable anymore. Yeah, I know: technological obsolence, I teach about this every year.

Damn!

PS: here are  5 zipped files of that type. Any help will be highly appreciated!

Faza cu sobolanul, de mai inainte/jos, nu am spus-o eu, ci am auzit-o la o barfa arhivistica la Intalnirea DLM de la Budapesta, unde am fost. Partea serioasa (nu ca Shobo nu ar fi pe bune) a fost atat de serioasa, ca iti dadea dureri de cap.
